Community Development Manager
Shea’s arrival at CU Strategic Planning marks a joyful return to the world of credit unions and a place where she could bring her passions back into her work. She thrives on promoting inclusivity and diversity and is energized by helping others around her succeed and prosper. All excellent qualities for a Community Development Manager!
She began her credit union career at Watermark CU in Seattle, breathing life into the credit union mission for new employees as a Training and Development Specialist. And it was a CDFI grant that brought her to Alaska, where she lives today.
CU Strategic Planning, in fact, wrote the winning CDFI FA Grant for MAC FCU that funded the position of Marketing and Business Development Officer. The opportunity to work doing community development and outreach, plus provide financial education and training for the local community, was too good to pass up.
Shea relishes working with individuals, credit unions, and community partners alike. Despite describing herself as in introvert, she’s passionate about working with people to find community-building solutions, which makes her a great asset to the CU Strategic Planning team.
Even her current home of Alaska suits her community-oriented spirit. Shea loves how her neighbors embody the spirit of people helping people, which more than makes up for 3:30 sunsets in the winter. (The endless summer evenings also help!)
When she’s not working, Shea loves to spend time with her family, that includes a husband and two amazing and rapidly growing sons plus two cats and a dog. Gardening during those long summer days and traveling during the winter make perfect bookends for northern life.
